Our Ethos
Our mission at KatieB Kids is to create a daytime family, rooted in happiness, where childhood is just as it should be.
We’re passionate about giving young children the best possible foundation for life – emotionally, physically and intellectually.
We do this by creating a unique day-time family, filled with love, care and fun, partnered with academic expertise, all together in an inspiring and nurturing environment.
Creating a child’s world
Our approach is completely child-centred. The foundation of our progressive curriculum is the internationally acclaimed educational philosophy of Reggio Emilia, drawing on aspects of Montessori, Forest School and Heuristic play.

Harnessing children’s natural curiosity and creativity, we use innovative activities, projects and hands-on play to explore, investigate and experiment and spend lots of quality time enjoying nature and the great outdoors every day.
Every child is listened to and given time to explore their feelings, ideas and theories. We value of respect, empathy, freedom and democracy to support children’s mental, moral and social development - a great base for academic learning in primary school.
From babies and toddlers through to 3 and 4-year-olds, our contemporary learning programme is bespoke to each child.
Our outstanding early years educators build on individual strengths and passions, allowing children to learn at their own pace and enjoy a range of experiences from reading, science, maths and geography to yoga, art, nature and woodwork.
We know the important role our nursery plays in the lives of modern families. We work in partnership with parents with flexible hours that put you and your family first, the ability to check in on your child throughout the day, and our experts are always on hand with advice and friendly support.
Just as childhood should be
Founded in 2014 by mum of three, Katie Ballard, KatieB Kids was borne from her passion to provide exceptional standards of excellence in Early Years education.
As a working-mum, Katie created our Nursery and School of Early Years so that she could return to work knowing that her own children were being given the love, care and attention that they would get at home, in a creative and natural environment, supported by outstanding educational expertise and forward-thinking learning.
We were originally in Dartford town centre, and we moved to our beautiful new home in the Chapel of St Luke in Stone in 2022.
Katie recognises that the most valuable thing in her nursery, beyond the children, is the team that she supports. Recognising each person as an individual, and empowering them to bring their best every day to the nursery has resulted in a committed, loyal and strong workforce, of whom Katie is immensely proud. Together with the children, Katie has created a genuinely happy, thriving, daytime family.
